Hornsey Exchange marks an exciting new era for Crouch End’s cultural landmark, Hornsey Town Hall

Today, North London’s cultural landmark, Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End takes a significant step forward as it celebrates the opening of Hornsey Exchange. This marks the start of the redevelopment journey, which will bring Hornsey Town Hall to life and shape its future ahead of its anticipated re-opening in late 2022.

Hornsey Exchange is located on the edge of the Town Hall Square and will be a community hub for all to access. It will be home to developer FEC’s marketing suite as well as The TIME + SPACE Co. operations team, who will oversee the cultural programming for Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre. The hub opening will allow Haringey Residents to connect with the project and it will play a key role in the plans to rejuvenate the area, with the imminent opening of a podcast recording facility within the space and the addition of a popular F&B partner later in the year.

Perhaps the biggest milestone since restoration work began on the Grade II* listed building, the opening of Hornsey Exchange marks the first time the public and potential buyers can register interest in the Social and Workspace Memberships, reserve venue spaces and learn how to get involved in the Arts Centre’s cultural renaissance. It is also where people can discover more about the apartments at FEC’s marketing suite and view the two new show homes located in the main Uren building.

Piers Read, a Crouch Ender and Managing Partner of The TIME + SPACE Co., which operates the Arts Centre, comments, “Our vision has always been that the Town Hall will be a place to create, becoming a major destination for arts, culture and entertainment in the UK. The opening of Hornsey Exchange is a major milestone in the project and a first step in bringing the venue back to life. Building upon an illustrious past, the community can now reserve any of the spaces, so many steeped in history, to play their part in an exciting new era for the building.”

Paying homage to the Town Hall’s musical heritage, a pilot “Hornsey Sounds” programme will launch later next month, inviting community groups to utilise the facility to produce high-quality podcasts with the Arts Centre’s in-house Sound Engineer. Once work on the Hornsey Arts Centre is complete, the concept will be relocated and upgraded to a cutting-edge recording studio in The Supper Room, where The Kinks and The Rolling Stones once performed. The completed Arts Centre will also house a theatre, performance, and events spaces, as well as a unique cinema, with plenty of communal spaces to work and socialise.

John Connolly, Head of UK Development at FEC, says, “We are excited to invite people to a vibrant community hub where they can get a real feel for the Hornsey Town Hall project, bringing together all the lifestyle components of the development which makes this a great place to live, work and play.”

FEC’s two new show homes are now located in the Uren building, offering potential buyers the opportunity to marvel at the build quality, stunning views, and exterior finish of the development – a chance not afforded until now.

Anyone purchasing one of the stunning Art Deco-inspired apartments within Hornsey Town Hall’s grounds can enjoy a free Social Membership as an incentive. The membership includes exclusive access to events, workspaces and discounts off on-site food and beverage outlets.

An additional Workspace Membership is available to purchase, for residents and creatives and will offer discounts across the building and exclusive access to an exciting range of industry networking events. State-of-the-art and refurbished spaces for hire, including hot desks and private studios.

Andrew Major, Head of Space + Community at The TIME + SPACE Co., adds, “The Arts Centre stands to become a thriving hub for creatives in North London. By becoming a member, you’re getting an incredibly unique space with first-class facilities, but most importantly, you’ll become part of a truly like-minded community.”

For those wishing to call Hornsey Town Hall their home, they can expect spaces that are finished to the highest standards, with airy bedrooms and exquisite details that are a nod to the rich history of the building. The apartments have proven to be incredibly popular with local owner occupiers, with almost 50% already sold off-plan.

The Hornsey Town Hall restoration project will also see the exciting inclusion of a contemporary aparthotel, Dao by Dorsett, providing a stylish home-from-home place to stay in the heart of Crouch End. The hotel will feature a mixture of 68 rooms and suites.

Prices for the apartments start from £515,950 for a one-bedroom and £664,950 for a two-bedroom. One-bedroom apartments are available under the government’s Help to Buy scheme.
